Basshunter the Norway students choice

Basshunter is the stage name of Jonas Erik Altberg, he was born in Halmstad in Sweden on 22 December 1984. He lived with his family near Tylösand. Tylösand is a very well known beach in Sweden used by thousands of Scandinavians in the summer season.

In 1999 using his computer, he his first albums The Old Shit and The Bassmachine was released through his own web site in 1999 and 2004. After a few more demo songs on the internet, he started to get calls from night clubs and dance clubs wanting to hire him for DJ gigs.

He signed his first contract In April 2006, with Warner Music; they released his first single, Boten Anna. The song became a big hit in Scandinavia, and the song was used as the official Studentruss song in Norway (You can read about this in the RUSS page on this site)

Boten Anna was realised as a re-recording with the title "Now You're Gone", with completely rewritten lyrics, which appealed to the foreign song market. The song hit the charts at number one on the UK Singles Chart, and stayed there for the following 5 weeks.

He was once interviewed by an English newspaper The Daily Mirror and during the interview he told them he would love to sing a duet with Robbie Williams or Madonna. He rated them as living legends.

The fourth single, "I Miss You" was released on the 15th December 2008 alongside the Christmas single, "Jingle Bells Bass".

He is currently working on his fifth Studio album, which is said to be completed around May 2009.[2]

Jonas came in third place in the UK 2010 Celebrity Big Brother

Altberg has been diagnosed with Tourette syndrome
