Philippine Entertainment

Philippine entertainment and entertainers are really very popular, especially in Europe.Entertainers can be in show business, sportsmen and women, or actors and actresses.

Many Pacquiao is a world boxing champion and is the most popular sportsman in the Philippines. He has defeated Oscar de Lahoya and Britain’s Ricky Hatton. He has also made several films. People in the Philippines are tipping him for president some day.

It is estimated that there about 9,000 people with Filipino background in Norway. Most of them have settled in the Oslo area. Filipino immigrants to Norway are mostly females. These women usually work has au pairs, maids, nannies or in nursing. In Norway there is an excellent education programme for the immigrants and quite a lot of Filipinos take advantage of this wonderful opportunity.

Some of these beautiful Filipino girls living in the Oslo area, have been recruited by unscrupulous agents, pretending to be in show business, then signing contracts as dancers or escorts then being forced into prostitution. It is very hard for the police to get control over this practice if the agents are licensed by an agency.

There is a new law in Norway started on January 1st 2009. Men caught buying sex can face up to six months in jail and can also expect a heavy fine. There has been a drastic reduction of street walkers since the new law stared, but of course trade still goes on via mobile phones and word of mouth.

A man was arrested in Oslo with a prostitute in his car and was found guilty after the girl admitted to taking his money for sex. He was fined a hefty € 1000 and jailed for 6 months. I don’t think he will take a chance with a prostitute again. Not in Norway anyway ;-)
