Bergen Norway, is surrounded by several mountains. The local people call them The Seven Mountains

Bergen Norway is about 175 km from Stavanger, with a population of about 250,000It can be reached by road sea or air. I myself like to drive there using the E-39. The journey takes 5 to 6 hours with a couple of stops on the way.

There are several long tunnels and we drive hundreds of meters under the fjords. The first tunnel is Byfjord, this tunnel is 6 kilometres long and 223 meters deep.

To get to Bergen Norway, we have to go through the Mastrafjord tunnel, Rennes Island is the nex one. This one is 4.4 kilometres long. We then take the 25 minutes trip by ferryboat over to Bokn Island.

The ferry boats are now driven by gas and are very modern and comfortable. Food and drinks are available on board.

At Halhjem we take another ferryboat to Os. From here it takes about 1 hour to drive into Bergen in Norway.

The city is surrounded by several mountains. The locals call these mountains The Seven Mountains, and they rise majestically around as far as the eye can see.

You will be pleased that you decided to visit this beautiful City.It is the second largest in Norway and there is always something going on all the year round.

The old part of the Town is really something. The houses are very well preserved and here you will find Museums and Galleries to browse through.

The Aquarium is found in an area called Nordnes, Here you can see Seals and Penguins playing around in the large pools. This Aquarium has as one of largest collections of fish and invertebrates in Europe. Over a million liters of sea-water is pumped up from a depth of 130 meters. This allows them to be know as one of the few aquariums in the world to keep and display a shoal of herring.

As well as this they have a number of fresh water aquariums displaying fish from every part of the world.

Please give the videos time to load

Some of these Cod fish would taste nice with fish and chips ;=)

The Fish Market

You cant really miss the Fish Market, just follow your nose ;=) Its not a fishy smell, it`s a combination of flowers, vegetables, and all kinds of different fruits. You can also sample quite a lot of these wares before you decide to buy. You must try the freshly boiled shrimps, They are simply delicious

The Japanese love the fish market

There are of course handicrafts and souvenirs for you to take home.

Bergen is so compact you wont have any trouble finding your way around.

One other thing I suggest, before leaving this lovely City take trip on the Floybanen” this a cable car that takes you up to the top of the mountain. Here you can relax and look down over the city and the harbour. The views is marvelous.
