Get your finger out and recycle to save the planet

We must recycle!!!!

Do you really want to save our planet? If your answer is yes, then ask yourself “What am I doing to help”? If your answer is nothing, then for the future of our young people and unborn babies, get your finger out and do something about it.

Here in Norway we are listed as the world leader in recirculation of electrical and electronic products like fridges, cookers, televisions, computers and washing machines etc.

A company named Elretur A/S collect all Norway’s electrical and electronic waste. This is sorted into steel, plastic and valuable metal and recirculated. In 2007 this company collected over 150,000 ton electronic waste.

I have noticed that here in this country there is a tendency when on short visits to shops, banks and even family, to leave there cars running. When I have asked them why they do this, most of them answer “It saves the battery when you don’t have to start the car again” what a load of rubbish.

Just imagine the amount of fumes from petrol and diesel motors escaping into the atmosphere. Maybe it’s because there is so little car theft here that this is done. I have even contemplated the idea of driving one of these cars around the corner, just to teach them a lesson.

It’s funny really when you think that Norway leads the world in recirculation but must be on the bottom in turning off their engines when parked.

We have a great system for sorting household waste. Every house has four plastic bins, one for paper, one for ordinary waste, one for plastic and one organic waste. These bins stand near the house and are collected on special days.

So please, if you’re not doing any thing to help the future of our planet, start now.

There’s no time like the present.
