Volleyball on top of the Pulpit Rock

Volleyball is to be played on top of the Pulpit Rock.In connection with the world championship, they are making plans to a promo game on top of the Pulpit Rock, 600 meters over the Lyse fjord.(You can read about the Pulpit Rock on another of my pages)

Bjorn Maaseide and Iver Horrem who are two the best players in Europe, are going to play against a world rated team not yet named.

This will be a spectacular game and will be watched by millions of viewers from over 200 countries. Every TV Company planning on sending pictures from the world championship will also be covering this promotion game.

I’m sure this promo game will create fantastic publicity for the Pulpit Rock and Lyse fjord.The volley ball court will 16 x 8 meters which is international standard size. There will be a 5 meter high safety fence erected around the area.

75 tons of sand will be brought in by boat and flown up to the top of the cliff by helicopter. It will take more than 100 trips to do this.

This little venture will cost in the region of 1 million kroner. The publicity experts all agree that it will be money well spent. I believe the organisers are trying to get the Int committee to allow the WM draw to take place on the Rock instead of in an office in Switzerland.
